FAQ

All submissions must be made through FilmFreeway via digital upload.  We are unable to accept submissions by mail, email, or any other method.

We love finding new voices, fresh perspectives, and original work – and we are open to whatever cinematic form that might take.

We accept films in all genres and categories, including narrative, documentary, experimental, and animation, both feature-length and short-form.  There is no minimum or maximum length.  We believe a 1-minute film can be as complete and compelling as a 100-minute one.  But keep in mind that we are unlikely to program something that runs much longer than 140 minutes.

You may submit as many films as you’d like, but you will need to fill out a separate form and pay a separate entrance fee for each.

Yes! Your film does not have to be a premiere to play at TRIFEST.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to review rough cuts.  We do understand how much a project can evolve during the post-production process, but please submit the version of your film you are ready to screen.

Notifications for TRIFEST 2026 @TSL will be made no later than June 10th, 2026. If you have any questions about your submission, feel free to contact us at submissions@trifest.org.

All music and other copyrighted material in your film, including story rights, must be properly licensed and attributed.

If your film is selected for TRIFEST 2026 @ TSL, you will receive free entry to the festival and all its events, including all screenings, filmmaker conversations, receptions, and any other events programmed throughout the weekend.

Top award-winners will receive prizes. Details will be announced closer to the time of the festival.

Our staff and jury manage hundreds of submissions, and we wish we could program them all!  If your film was not selected this year, we encourage you to submit new work in the future.  

Please note that TRIFEST does not accept PSAs, commercials, trailers or teasers, and any project falling into one of these categories will be automatically disqualified.

Accepted filmmakers who are attending the festival are responsible for their own transportation and lodging. 

Time & Space Limited is located in Hudson, New York, in the heart of the Hudson Valley, approximately 2 hours by car from New York City and 3 hours from Boston. The closest airports are Albany International Airport in Albany, NY and Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT. There is an Amtrak station in Hudson, NY, which is a 20-minute walk from the venue. 

There are Uber and Lyft, as well as local taxi services available in the area.

There are many suitable options for lodging in Hudson, including nearby campgrounds. Camp Catskills RV Park offers tent campsite, and is an 18-minute drive from TSL.
